Stitch Club Sept - knitted knotted stitch

Monthly Stitch Club full of stitchy goodness! 

This month we're learning about...... using knots to create a knitting-like stitch! 

We create this hot air balloon motif, presominently concentrating on the technique of the balloon itself. We add in a bit of weaving stitch for the basket - and the rest of the background is yours to be creative with! 

If you're providing your own materials, you will need:

A piece of fabric - I'll be using calico, as a clean background to chowcase the stitches

Sashiko thread - I've used a variegated pink in the balloon, and a yellow for the basket. You can purchase these in a number of places - for example the website Japan crafts
