About the Event
Join a friendly group of stitchers to learn a few blackwork patterns. Blackwork is a counted stitch worked on evenweave linen, which started in the Tudor times and was often used on cuffs and collars, using black thread on white fabric. This class uses Belfast linen and black DMC a broder thread. Over three Thursday evenings you will learn a few repeating patterns - like a complicated version of cross stitch. The lessons will introduce you to the patterns, and give you a chance to practice them, and ask questions. After that you should be able to finish the work in your own time. The class is suitable for all, although absolute beginners may find it a little tricky. You have the choice of ordering the kits with all the materials needed (except for scissors and a hoop as required), or you can provide your own.
